We each act with integrity and are realistic about the demands of this sport and of running this business with all volunteers. We strive to maintain a league culture where all members are welcomed, included, and celebrated. As such, we recognize and appreciate the diversity of our membership and show consideration for every person’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We focus on effort and are honest with ourselves and each other about our boundaries and limitations. Above all, we respect the rules of roller derby and treat each other as we would like to be treated, both on and off the track. 

We take pride in our individual abilities and progress, but place our common goals ahead of personal glory. We share a passion for the sport of roller derby and work as a team to ensure the success of the entire league and have fun while doing it.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the league’s current and future success.  CLTRD embraces everyone's uniqueness and welcomes all. CLTRD provides a safe space for everyone to participate, regardless of gender or skill level, with various skating and non-skating opportunities. We are open to new cultures, new ideas, and new people. We will adapt as needed and remain flexible as we learn and grow as individuals and as an organization.

We encourage a culture of accountability where we are aware that our actions impact everyone around us, including the Charlotte community. We believe in the value of healthy, lasting relationships between CLTRD members and the Charlotte area communities. We empower growth in our community through the competitive sport of roller derby and contribute to charitable community organizations with donations, not only financially, but also with time and presence at public events. We take pride in being reliable and dependable, not only in our personal pursuits, but in our obligations to the league.

We promote healthy conversations to solve problems. We strive to be good listeners and seek first to understand. We do not shy away from direct communication; we aim to always say what we mean and mean what we say.

We work as a team to ensure the success of the entire league. CLTRD always welcomes newcomers and aspires to build one of the strongest and most highly competitive roller derby teams in the region. Winning is not the only success criteria; we strive to empower individuals to be their truest selves and build confidence through the development of athletic ability, respectful game-play, team building, leadership, and goodwill among member leagues.
